St. Ben’s Volleyball Advances At NCAAs

The St. Ben's Volleyball team defeated Dominican of Illinois 3 games to none Thursday afternoon in the regional quarterfinals in the NCAA Division III tournament at St. Thomas in St. Paul. Sophie Stangl led the Blazers with 10 kills and both Lexi Alm and Kendra Coleman added 9 kills apiece. St. Ben's improves to 28-5.

St. Ben’s Volleyball in NCAAs

The St. Ben's volleyball team plays their first match in the NCAA Division III tournament at 12:30 today in St. Paul at St. Thomas against Dominican of Illinois. St. Ben's is 27-5 while Dominican is 24-8. St. Thomas is hosting the regional. The other matches today feature Northwestern vs UW-Stevens Point at 3pm, Wartburg vs UW-Eau Claire at 5:30 and St. Thomas vs Cornell at 8pm tonight.

The St. Ben's volleyball team defeated Concordia-Moorhead 3 games to none Thursday night to advance to the MIAC Tournament Finals. Sophie Stangl led the Blazers with 12 kills and Lexi Alm added 11 kills for the Blazers. St. Ben's improves to 27-4.

Honors For St. John’s, St. Ben’s Athletes

St. John's linebacker Maze Thompson of Shoreview is this week's MIAC Defensive Player of the Week. The Saint John's football team came from behind Saturday to beat Gustavus, 31-17, as the Johnnie defense allowed only a single field goal after halftime.
Thompson finished 12 total tackles - nine solo - which led the Johnnies in Saturday's win over the Gusties.

(Sophie Stangl had 19 kills and Lexi Alm had 17 kills for the Blazers. St. Ben's improves to 25-4 overall and 9-1 in the MIAC. St. Ben's wraps up the #2 seed for the upcoming MIAC tournament. The Blazers close the regular season at Concordia-Moorhead Saturday at 3pm)

SCSU Wrestling Ranked #2; Honor for St. Ben’s Volleyball

The St. Cloud State wrestling team is ranked #2 in the first Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll. The Huskies were runner-up for 2 consecutive seasons at Division II and finished the 2011-2012 season with a perfect 21-0 dual meet record. The SCSU wrestling team returns 4 NCAA All-Americans, Andy Pokorny, Jake Kahnke, Shamus O'Grady, and Jacob D. Horn.
