There have been numerous, high profile reports of thousand dollar donations to Salvation Army Red Kettles this season around Minnesota - and the very latest has been discovered right here in the St. Cloud area.
The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and the Central Minnesota Community Foundation are conducting their community matching challenge for area food shelves again this year. They will match every dollar donated, up to $50,000.
Five St. Cloud metro area mayors will be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army today (Thursday). The Mayor's Ring-A-Thon has a goal of raising $3,000, and an anonymous donor has agreed to match them up to another $3,000.
Last week we told you about Tiga Stevenson, a local woman attempting to set the world record for the longest amount of time ringing the Salvation Army's Red Kettle bell. She didn't set the world record, but she definitely met and exceeded her own goal.
