The United Way of Central Minnesota will begin the search for a new CEO. After nearly 13 years, current leader Noreen Dunnells has accepted a position heading up the United Way of Lane County, Oregon.
New figures from the Census show the number of Americans in poverty grew to a 27-year high in 2010. The poverty rate is now at 15.1 percent. It translates unto nearly 1 in 6 Americans. Minnesota's poverty rate is at 10.8 percent or 544-thousand people in poverty.
It's day 12 of the state government shutdown, and many area nonprofits are feeling the crunch. Noreen Dunnells with the United Way of Central Minnesota spoke with WJON this morning.
