A fire that burned 1,600 acres of forest and grassland in north-central Minnesota is now completely contained. The fire broke out Sunday near the town of Nimrod, about 40 miles northwest of Brainerd.
Don't be alarmed if you are driving along I-94 and you see smoke coming from a grass fire. The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be conducting prescribed burns along I-94 between St. Cloud and Sauk Centre until mid-May.
The Department of Natural Resources is warning of high fire danger over the southern half of Minnesota this weekend. Central and southern Minnesota have little or no snow cover.
