CLEAR LAKE - A singer/songwriter from Clear Lake is looking to make it big in the music business one day. Mike Boxell performed some of his songs Friday on the News @ Noon Show on WJON.

He says he's been working on his music for about 15 years since he was in high school. He does have music in his blood, his dad is a longtime member of a band as well.

Boxell says a career in the music industry would be nice.

Right now it's fun and if I could make a career out of it and keep it fun then absolutely the dream would be to perform in front of tons of people and have them sing my songs back to me.

Boxell says he's mostly focused on being a solo artist, and would prefer to just sing his own songs.

As for inspiration for his music he says he's written about everything from his wife, to a friend's suicide, to the Clearwater Rodeo.  The song in our video is about his wife and is titled "Your Space".

Boxell grew-up in Clearwater, he graduated from Annandale high school, and currently lives in Clear Lake.
