ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Police in St. Paul say a man is in critical condition after he was shot by an officer, and a man in a nearby home was grazed by a bullet during the incident.

Police were called to a suspected church burglary early Sunday in the Merriam Park area, and officers say they saw a suspicious car leaving.

Reports say that police followed, but a passenger got out and ran. A St. Paul sergeant believed the man had a handgun, and fired multiple times.

An occupant of a nearby home was grazed by a bullet. Police Sgt. Paul Paulos says officials don't know whether the bullet came from the suspect or from the officer's handgun. A gun found at the scene didn't belong to police.
