ST. CLOUD (WJON News) - An open house next Tuesday, April 23rd, at the St. Cloud Police Department, will answer questions from anyone interested in joining the department as a Reserve Officer.

The St. Cloud Police Reserves is a volunteer organization that assists police officers in community engagement and special events throughout the year. Reserve Officers may help in:

  • Traffic control during parades and community events,
  • Acting as a role player for the new officer academy training,
  • Help at numerous community engagement events at the Community Out Post17 (COP House) Program.

New Reserve Officers receive uniforms, equipment, and training that includes:

  • Defensive tactics
  • OC (pepper) spray
  • Handcuffing
  • Traffic control
  • Radio Communications,
  • De-escalation techniques.

Reserve Officers are expected to attend the monthly meetings on the 4th Tuesday of every month.

The open house is Tuesday, April 23rd, at 5:30 pm at the St. Cloud Police Department.
