ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud hosted its first annual Weihnachtsmarkt or Christmas market today, a gathering to celebrate Christmas and German history in the area.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis was at the event, he says Downtown St. Cloud holds significant German history.

"We're in Downtown St. Cloud, actually what used to be a very German area of the city," Kleis says.

German food and drink were found at the market, everything from bratwurst to hot mulled wine. Local arts and crafts from the Paramount Gallery were also being sold at the event.

Due to the frigid weather the market had to be moved into a heated tent. Kleis says he loved the turnout despite the cold.

"It's very cold today but to have a nice crowd out here is great, it's nice to see the tent is full," Kleis says.
