SAUK RAPIDS -- A Sartell man is facing charges after placing a false 911 call yesterday (Sunday).

Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold says dispatch received a call just before 2:00 p.m. that someone jumped from the Sauk Rapids Bridge.

Emergency Crews responded to the scene but found no evidence anyone had jumped, stating the call to be false.

Bechtold says as of this (Monday) morning a 33-year-old man admitted to placing the call to get attention.

He has not officially been charged and his name will not be released.

The case is being forwarded to the Stearns County Attorney's Offices where the man is facing Gross Misdemeanor charges of Placing a False Emergency Call.
