ST. CLOUD - The Minnesota State High School League has shifted some of the state high school football games at Husky Stadium, because of the expected cold temperatures.

The Nine-man semi-final game with Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal versus Edgerton/Ellsworth scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday has been moved up to noon. The other Nine-man semi-final game remains scheduled for 5:00 p.m. That has Kittson County Central taking on Grand Meadow.

Saturday's originally scheduled 5:00 p.m. game with Minneota taking on Braham has been moved to Prior Lake. While the 8:00 p.m. game, the Class AAA semi-final with Pierz versus Rochester Lourdes has been moved up to 5:00 p.m.

This all means SCSU will now host a total of three games over the weekend, instead of the original four.

Despite over 13 inches of snow that fell in St. Cloud earlier this week, officials say the field will be ready.

SCSU Director of Sports Facilities Ron Seibring says they've intentionally left the snow on the field until today (Wednesday), to keep it insulated. They'll spend the next two days removing it.

Seibring says the anticipated cold temperatures are a bigger concern than the snow. Gametime temps could be in the single digits both Friday and Saturday night.

The high school league has already decided not to use fields in Edina and Wayzata, because of the snow.

Up until this year, the state semi finals games have been played indoors at the Metrodome.
