ST. CLOUD -- A high traffic bridge in town recently got a make-over.

St. Cloud State University along with City of St. Cloud painted the bottom lip red of the St. Cloud State pedestrian bridge, on University Drive, and added "St. Cloud State University" in white lettering.

Construction was done on the bridge about five years ago and the original wording "Saint Cloud State University" was removed. SCSU Marketing and communications assistant vice president, Loren Boone says the university didn't want to put the original lettering back on the bridge after the construction was finished.

"Because it wasn't in the official university word mark font and because it used the word "Saint" instead of "St.", we didn't re-install the old lettering, we wanted to wait for a time when we could replace it correctly," says Boone.

After doing a study last year the university created a plan to re-paint the bridge. Boone says after installing many banners along University Drive and 5th Avenue South, painting the bridge became the next step in the re-branding process.

The entire project cost the university about $9,000 out of it's marketing funds.
