SAUK RAPIDS -- Food has a way to bringing families together, and for the community of Sauk Rapids the Rapids River Food Festival has been bringing them together for over 26 years.

"It was meant to be a community event and to bring everyone together and have fun, and of course everyone likes to eat and that's why we started with the food" say Rapids River Food Fest Treasurer Jill Zanardi.

Over 25 different food vendors fill up Municipal Park, along with activities for the kids, demonstrations put on by the Sauk Rapids Fire Department and live bands that play throughout the day.

The whole event is a way to give back to the community.

The staff that organized the event is all volunteer based and a percentage of the money they collect today will be given to non-profit organizations throughout Sauk Rapids and other communities.

The Food Fest goes until 8:00 p.m. tonight (Saturday), and entrance is free to the public.
