SAUK RAPIDS - Professional disc golfers from around the state and country gathered in Central Minnesota to compete in the NorthStar Throwdown today.

While many may enjoy disk golf casually, professional tournaments like this are difficult to win. Golfers take a lot of time to prepare, often times coming before the event to practice the course.

"We had car-loads of guys coming up from the Twin Cities all this week to practice the courses for the tournament this weekend." Amanda Henry said, coordinator of the tournament.

Over ninety golfers competed at Mayhew Creek. The weather was fairly nice, besides a strong breeze that added an extra challenge to competitors.

"This nice breeze, it can really take your disks for a ride" Henry said.

Golfers will also play in Millstream Park tomorrow for the second half of the tournament.
