ST. CLOUD (WJON News) - Everyone is invited to the grand opening of the Best Buy Teen Tech Center inside the Southside Boys and Girls Club in St. Cloud.

The state-of-the-art facility, a program of the Best Buy Foundation, is designed to give access to cutting-edge technology, mentorship, and college and career readiness to teens. The center features hands-on experiences in photography, virtual reality, 3-D design, and more.

Mary Swingle is the President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota.

Partnerships are at the core of everything we do to impact youth at the Boys & Girls Club. By partnering with the Best Buy Foundation for this incredible technology center, we are able to offer teens exciting new opportunities and experiences in technology that will help them build valuable skills and determine if a career in technology is in their future.

The 1,361-square-foot center includes:

  • 15+ Computers With Professional Grade Applications
  • DJ Station
  • Robotics and Coding
  • Digital Arts
  • 3D Printing
  • Embroidery
  • T-Shirt and Heat Press
  • Digital Cutting
  • Photography and Videography
  • VR Headsets
  • Button-Making

The Southside location will join a growing network of centers nationwide, including 10 in Minnesota.

The Open House at the Southside Boys and Girls Club is Tuesday, April 23rd, starting at 4:00 pm with a brief program about the new center and a ribbon-cutting at 4:15.
