MNsure Signs Up 3,700 So Far For Health Insurance
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – More than 3,700 Minnesotans so far have signed up for health insurance coverage through the state’s new online exchange.
The numbers are being released Wednesday at a meeting of the board of directors for MNsure. The MNsure website launched two weeks ago to deliver health insurance changes under the federal overhaul.
MNsure officials say 3,769 people have finalized enrollment or are waiting for their payments to process. Beyond that group, an additional 1,800 have completed the application process but not yet chosen an insurer.
In all, just over 12,000 people have opened MNsure accounts. So far, 355 small businesses have opened accounts. The site has had more than 34,000 visitors. Coverage purchased on the exchange will kick in on Jan. 1.
