MINNEAPOLIS -- On a soggy TCF Bank Stadium field, the Minnesota Vikings could not stop Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy in today's 24-21 loss.

Lacy scored two touchdowns and churned out enough first downs to diminish any hopes for a Vikings comeback.

Lacy, who finished the game with 125 yards on 25 carries, gave the Packers the a 7-0 lead with a one yard touchdown plunge at the end of the first quarter.

Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had a very uneven performance, finishing 21-of-37 for 210 yards and two touchdowns after starting the game 2-of-9.

Bridgewater missed out on more yards and possible scores with some badly-thrown balls, especially on two passes intended for wide receiver Charles Johnson.

Bridgewater seemed to settle down a bit and finally was able to hit Johnson for a game-tying 22-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

The touchdown was an encouraging sign, as the Vikings were able to stay with the red-hot Packers who had scored a combined 108 points in their previous two games.

The Vikings defense was able to keep Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in check - by his standards - as he finished with 209 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Vikings safety Harrison Smith nearly made a very impressive interception in the fourth quarter as he stretched out to catch the ball but it came loose as he hit the ground.

A few plays later, Lacy caught a shovel pass from Rodgers and barrelled into the endzone to make the score 24-13.

Bridgewater continued his penchant for strong fourth quarter play, as he was able to drive the offense down the field and score on a touchdown pass to former Packer receiver, Greg Jennings.

Bridgewater then completed the two point conversion attempt to Johnson, whop ran the exact same route that Jennings ran the previous play.

With the score at 24-21 and about three and a half minutes remaining, the Vikings elected to kick off to the Packers and hope to force a punt.

It did not happen, though, as Lacy pounded out 27 yards on five consecutive carries that ran out the clock.

With the loss, the Vikings drop to 4-7 on the season and will host Cam Newton and the 3-7-1 Carolina Panthers next week.
