MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – A Minnesota woman whose dismembered remains were found in southern California last month had emailed her grandmother in February – saying she was heading to Phoenix to visit because she needed money.

But 32-year-old Jamie Lea Harmer never showed up.

Police found Harmer’s remains on April 27 – in plastic bags scattered along railroad tracks. A Riverside, California, man has been arrested.

Olive Pinske is Harmer’s paternal grandmother. She says Harmer was a “lost little girl” who struggled with drugs for years, despite family attempts to help. Pinske says she was shocked at the manner in which her granddaughter was found, but she says the family is relieved she was found, and can now put her to rest.

The family is planning a memorial service in Grygla on June 8.
