ST. CLOUD - The Lupine Brewing Company in St. Cloud is expanding its reach by opening a taproom in Delano this summer.

Lupine started operating late last year and brews out of the former O'Hara's building at 3310 Third Street North.

Their beers are available locally at the Boulder Tap House, Old Chicago, D.B. Searles, MC’s Dugout, Applebees (St. Cloud), G-Allen’s in Sartell and Old Capital Tavern in Sauk Rapids.

The new taproom in Delano is at 248 River Street. Renovations are underway with the goal of opening near the end of June.

Owner James Anderle says the space in St. Cloud wasn't quite big enough for their long term company goals.

"The space up in St. Cloud we intend to continue to brew out of and we're really excited about that, it's a great market. But the space and the system isn't big enough for our long-term plans."

Lupine will continue to brew beer in St. Cloud but will no longer be able to sell growlers of beer from the location. Minnesota state law allows a brewery to only have one taproom. Lupine is looking to see if they can still have beer tasting at their current location.

Anderle says having a taproom will be a huge step for the brewery.

"Taprooms are a huge success for small breweries and we are definitely looking forward to having one for ourselves."
