ST. CLOUD -- The classic tale of the mermaid who wants to trade her fins for a pair of feet takes center stage at the Paramount Theatre tonight (Friday).

The Little Mermaid Junior is based on the 1989 animated Disney movie, The Little Mermaid.

Characters Ariel, Flounder, Scuttle, Sebastian and all of your favorites come to life by way of land and sea.

Main character Ariel makes a deal with Ursula the sea witch and trades her voice for a shot at love and life on land with Prince Eric. 

Nikki Pederson plays Ursula. She says she wanted her character to seem manipulative rather than evil, "I don't want her to seem evil, just manipulative and fun. I wanted to keep her fun and kind of playful."

The cast is made-up of actors who are all under the age of 18. Mary Birchillwho plays Ariel says she moved in with her aunt in St. Cloud from Stillwater to be in the show.

The cast performs classic songs such as Under The Sea, Kiss The Girl and Poor Unfortunate Souls.

The show opens tonight (Friday) at 7:00 p.m. and goes through October 20th. Tickets are on-sale now at the Paramount Box Office.
