WAITE PARK -- Plans are underway for a Kwik Trip Station to be built in Waite Park.

Last night (Tuesday) the Waite Park Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit to tear down the former Raddy's Express convience store at 458 Great Oak Drive.

Waite Park Planning and Community Development Director Jon Noerenberg says Kwik Trip expressed interest in the site back in April and wants to build a new building on the site.

"Initially they thought of renovating the building, but what they settled on was razing the building and starting from scratch with a new building on the former Raddy's location," says Noerenberg.

Noerenberg says the convenience store will be brought to the city council Monday for final approval. If approved, construction could begin this fall

Kwik Trip is a family-owned business based out of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Noerenberg says Kwik Trip will not only be a great addition to the city, but a great addition for the residents on that side of town.

"I know there is a lot of people excited and I think it will be great benefit for the area," says Noerenberg.

Raddy's Express closed back in January. A Kwik Trip will also be built in southeast St. Cloud next year.
