ST. CLOUD - The first of what could be several new Kwik Trip convenience stores has been approved by the St. Cloud city council. During their meeting tonight (Monday), the council approved the request to rezone a piece of property in southeast St. Cloud.

The lot is at the corner of Highway 23 and 14th Avenue Southeast. A former church sits on that lot right now.

Company spokesman Wade DuMont says they're looking to build several new stores in the St. Cloud area.

A number of them are in negotiations, so I can't give you a number. I'm hoping to have at least four, but we'll see if I can get more, depending on how I do my job.

The Kwik Trip in southeast St. Cloud will be 7,150 square feet, with fuel and diesel pumps, and two drive-thru car washes. Construction is expected to begin next year.

Kwik Trip is a family-owned business based out of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
