Irene Marie Donahue, 87, of Motley, MN died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Friday, September 19, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, MN. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services for visitation at the church.

Irene was born February 6, 1927 to the late Casper and Anne (Enneking) Wensman in Melrose, MN. She attended school in Melrose through the 8th grade and later obtained her GED. Irene was united in marriage to Patrick (Pat) Donahue on September 17, 1949 in Sauk Center, MN. Due to Pat’s service connections and later communications jobs, they lived in Florida, California, Illinois and Minnesota. They moved to Motley after retirement in 1980. Irene was a member of St. Michael’s Church and the Oncore Art Club in Brainerd.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Colleen of Raleigh, NC; sons, Timothy of Chadron, NE, Thomas (Gloria) of Billings, MT, Daniel (Barbara) of Motley, MN; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five sisters, Monica Freeler of Melrose, MN, Leona Moscho of Sauk Centre, MN, Rose Hemple of Minneapolis, MN, Ann Stocks of Reo Verde, AZ, Betty Kampsen of St. Paul, MN; Edwin (Carolyn) Wensman of White Bear Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pat in 2008; sisters, Juletta Rachey, Hildegard Rosen; brothers, Leander and Ralph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
