SAUK RAPIDS -- You can help raise money for the children of armed service members this weekend with the Granite City Lumberjacks as they hold their Military Appreciation Nights.

During the games tonight and tomorrow, the Lumberjacks are holding contests and auctions with proceeds going to Defending the Blue Line - which helps to keep the children of deployed soldiers in hockey programs.

Lumberjacks executive Rocky Johnstone, in a Wednesday interview with WJON's Jay Caldwell, says there are several activities at games this weekend to raise the money.

The last time the Lumberjacks collected money for Defending the Blue Line, they raised $7,500 - a total that Johnstone says they hope to surpass this year.

The Lumberjacks will hold their fundraising efforts in tonight's game against Breezy Point and tomorrow night versus Twin City. Both games start at 7:30 p.m. at RhinoDeck Arena East in Sauk Rapids.
