Harold V. Young, 95, St. Cloud

September 5, 1920 - April 27, 2016

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Harold V. Young, 95, of St. Cloud will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Harry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday both at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be held at 5:00 p.m. and the St. Cloud Eastside VFW #4847 along with the Waite Park American Legion #428 will pray at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Harry was born on September 5, 1920 in St. Cloud to Julius and Christina (Grien) Young. He graduated from Tech High School and served in the US Navy during WWII. Harry was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad for over 44 years in the purchasing and materials department. He retired in 1980. Harry was united in marriage to Dolora Guck on May 21, 1996 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Harry was a member of the Burlington Northern Veterans Assn., NARVE, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622, Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428, St. Cloud Veterans of Foreign Wars Granite Post #428 and St. John Cantius Parish.

Harry enjoyed golfing until the age of 92, dancing and traveling with Dolora. He will be remembered for his bear hugs.

He is survived by his wife, Dolora; children, Linda Ferrell of Annandale, Patricia Young of California, Barbara Abfalter of Clearwater; grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother, Walter (Lois) of St. Cloud; and sister, Rose Pederson or Milaca.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Victor, Arthur and Donald; and former wife.
