ST. CLOUD - The state government shutdown has put a construction project at St. Cloud's Madison Elementary on hold.

The plan to add three new classrooms requires a review from the State Department of Labor and Industry.  Until the budget issues are resolved, that can't happen.

District officials were hoping to have the construction done in time for the new school year, but with a scheduled construction period of about 60-days, that looks unlikely now.

The classrooms are needed to ease overcrowding issues.
