RICHMOND -- The former mayor of Richmond and captain of the town's amateur baseball team has been arrested on suspicion of stealing money from the team.

42-year-old Scott Kron was arrested today following an investigation into missing money from the baseball team's charitable gambling proceeds.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Alcohol and Gambling Division began the investigation in May and identified Kron as a person of interest.

Kron was booked and released from the Stearns County Jail.

The Stearns County Attorney's Office will now consider charges of felony theft and misconduct of a public officer or employee.
