FOLEY - Foley is looking for new police protection.

The city council has voted to end their policing contract with the Benton County Sheriff's department.

Interim city administrator Sarah Brunn says their options include: hiring a private security firm, reestablishing a police department, or contracting with a neighboring city.

Three Benton County Deputies have been assigned to the city for 17 hours a day since 2003.  The cost to the city has been about $24,000 a month.

The current contract will expire at the end of this year.
