July 4, 1915 - August 27, 2016

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. Stephen Catholic Church for Emily E. Hlebain, age 101 of St. Stephen who died Saturday at Arlington Place of St. Joseph. Rev. Eugene Doyle will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the church in St. Stephen.

Emily was born July 4, 1915 in St. Stephen to Matthew & Mary (Omann) Kosel. She married Valentine Hlebain on June 20, 1939 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Emily was a homemaker and lived in St. Stephen most all of her life. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church where she was active in Christian Mothers. Emily enjoyed dancing, quilting, playing cards, bingo and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Mary Jane Hlebain of St. Cloud, Robert Hlebain of St. Stephen, and Theresa Hofstater of Sartell; grandchildren, Michael (Tammy) Carlson and Jennifer (Steve) Virkus; great grandchildren, Keyona Carlson, Lydia, Amelia and Sophia Virkus and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Valentine on September 5, 1992; brothers John, Math, Peter, Frank, Joseph, Anton, Thomas and Benedict; sisters, Mayme Ecker, Gertrude Ethen, Ann Weyrauch, Theresa Samuelson, Margaret LaPier, and Olivia Vouk.

Memorials are preferred to the Poor Clare Monastery.
