Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Elmer G. “Red” Lodermeier, age 91 of Waite Park. Red passed away August 12, 2017 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center with family at his side. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Waite Park with full military honors.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. Parish Prayers will be held at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church in Waite Park.

Red was born July 17, 1926 in St. Wendel Township, Stearns County, MN to Louis and Clara (Schroeder) Lodermeier. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII on the USS Saratoga and USS Nevada. He married Lorinda “Linda” Seifert on June 18, 1949 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. He worked at Frigidaire and retired from Sentinel Printing in 1988. He was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park, Nocturnal Adoration, Waite Park American Legion Post 428 and VFW Post 428.

Red is survived by his wife Linda, children Mike (Brenda) Lodermeier, LeAnn (Mark) Kemper, Mary (Eric) Baker and Jeanne (Bruce Kitowski) Lodermeier, grandsons David (Krystal Ruka) and Ben Kemper, step granddaughters Allison and Stephanie Kitowski, his sister Elsie Stephanie and brother Walter Lodermeier.

Preceding Red in death were his parents, and his sister Barbara Scalise.

Red’s family would like to thank the staff at the Adult Daycare Program, Hospice and Building 51-1 at the VA Medical Center, as well as St. Croix Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided for Red.
