SARTELL - Just when you got used to driving through a roundabout, now get ready for the diverging diamond.

The Sartell city council has approved MnDOT's plan for the Highway 15/County Road 120 intersection.  It will be the first intersection of it's kind in Minnesota, which eliminates left turns by channeling traffic temporarily to the other side of the road.  A bridge will take County Road 120 traffic over Highway 15.

Sartell Mayor Joe Perske says work is scheduled to begin next year.

However, the St. Cloud city council also heard from MnDOT last night, they tabled the approval of the project so they could discuss it more.

Officials say the design will reduce accidents by 70 percent.
