Crews Continue Work to Clear Damaged Paper Mill

SARTELL  (AP) - Crews continue to remove large rolls of damaged paper at the Verso Paper mill in Sartell where an explosion and fire last month killed one person and injured four others.

Three-thousand to 4,000 rolls of paper were stored in a warehouse that burned. Each weighed between 1 ton and 4 tons, and with the cost of paper at $1,000 per ton, the loss of the paper alone could be in the millions of dollars.

Verso Paper executive Robert Mundy says he expects to have some preliminary feedback from his company's investigators in the next few days.

Verso President and CEO Dave Paterson met with Sen. Amy Klobuchar in Washington on Tuesday to discuss efforts to keep the paper mill operating.
