Benefit for Killed Verso Employee to Be Held Sunday [AUDIO]
SARTELL - The Verso Paper Mill explosion tragically took employee Jon Maus' life this past Memorial Day.
Now, this Sunday, you're invited to join other members of the community in a benefit for Maus' wife, Lucy, and children Anthony, Olivia, Phillip and Veronica.
Vern Barthel is a Verso employee and the organizer of the benefit. He says the day will be an opportunity to support the Maus family, as well as reunite the Verso community since May's explosion.
Barthel says they have enough food for 1,000, and are planning a silent auction and raffle, as well as live music donated by local Beatles tribute band "The Revolution 5," of which Barthel's son Aaron is a member.
He adds, while the benefit is slated to happen at Bernick's Ice Arena in Sartell, they're hoping the weather will cooperate so they can hold it outside.
Everyone is welcome, and all proceeds will benefit the Maus family.
