Update: Crews Battle St. Joseph Garage Fire

ST. JOSEPH -- Fire crews were on the scene of a garage fire in St. Joseph today. The blaze was reported sometime around 1:00 p.m. at 1320 Minnesota Street East.

Fire Chief Jeff Taufen says the homeowner was working on a snowmobile in the garage when the fire broke out. He believes the blaze started from a space heater.

Taufen says the garage is a total loss. There was also some damage to a vehicle. Fire crews were able to put out the fire around 2:20 p.m. Members of the Waite Park Fire Department were also on the scene assisting with the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
