ST. CLOUD -- The St. Cloud City Council unanimously decided to move forward with the planned expansion by Cold Spring Granite Quarry.

The proposal extends the quarry located just to the west of Oak Hill Elementary, and surrounded by residential housing.

Cold Spring Granite presented an Environmental Assessment Worksheet to the council required by state law.

It was moved by council member, George Hontos and seconded by council member, Carol Lewis to approve a request which would allow Cold Spring Granite to move to their second phase of expansion.

The assessment looks at the purpose of the growth and the potential environmental impacts.

Cold Spring Granite now has the go-ahead to hold public hearings to gage feedback on the proposal.

The city will let area residents know when the public hearings will be held over the next 30 days.
