COLD SPRING -- The Cold Spring City Council is holding a special meeting Monday  to review their police chief hiring process.

The council will discuss whether to start a new search. The current proposal is to have Chris Boucher remain as acting chief for up to one year.

During that time the council would like the department to get new squad car cameras and make other unspecified changes. Council members Fran Ramler and Dave Stadther would be asked review their current framework for selecting a police chief and make any necessary changes. The council would then begin a new search.

Eric Johnson was offered a conditional job offer with the Cold Spring-Richmond Police Department. The council learned that Johnson had allowed his CPR and First Responder certifications to lapse which resulted in a no confidence vote.

The special meeting will be held at the Cold Spring City Hall at 6:00 p.m.
