ST. CLOUD - A plan to build a new Coborn's grocery store in north St. Cloud can move forward. The St. Cloud City Council Monday amended the Planned Unit Development to allow the grocery to go into the former YMCA lot.

Coborn's will demolish the existing building and build a 21,000 square foot grocery store. It will have six gas pump islands, and drive thru lanes for coffee and pharmacy sales. Coborn's says it will be a new fresh concept grocery store on Northway Drive, with a smaller-scale model.

With its close proximity to the St. Cloud Technical and Community College, nearby medical buildings, and the new YMCA, Coborn's sees this as an opportunity.

The anticipated opening date is sometime next year.
