The Cathedral boys and girls cross country teams will compete in the Class A State Cross Country Meet Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Both teams set this as a goal prior to the season and are pleased they accomplished this.

Waite Park Police is reporting a backpack was stolen from a vehicle behind a strip mall on the 100 block of 2nd Street South.

The firearms deer hunting opener is Saturday November 5 in Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the weather and healthy deer population in Central Minnesota should lead to a successful opening deer hunting weekend.

The Granite City Train Show is back at the Rivers Edge Convention Center this Saturday. The show goes from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The show features model and toy trains of all scales, accessories, books, videos, railroad collectibles, antique toys and hobby items.

Inflation continues to be in factor for Central Minnesotans with so many products and services going up in price. St. Cloud State Economist and Dean, School of Public Affairs King Banaian joined me on WJON. He indicates the latest ADP report, which processes paychecks, shows wages went up 7.7% and Banaian says inflation is up 8%.

Cathedral High School and Middle School is hosting an open house Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. I was joined today on WJON by Cathedral High School Principal Kathy Crispo, Cathedral Middle School Principal Erin Hatlestad and Cathedral Activities Director Emmett Keenan.

Waite Park Police is reporting some vehicle break-ins. One is on the 200 block of 13th Avenue North where a hand gun was taken from a vehicle. Alicia Mages from Tri-County Crimestoppers joined me on WJON. She says the gun was in a small blue travel bag.

St. Nicholas is an unincorporated community in Luxemburg Township in Stearns County. The community is south of Cold Spring, west of Marty and north of Watkins. St. Nicholas falls within the ROCORI school district.

Duck, geese, grouse and pheasant hunting has been going on in Central Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the weather has caused more ducks to stay in the area longer then they normally do. Schmitt indicates he doesn't expect them to stick around much longer but he's been seeing plenty of mallards and teal.
