All-Star Student of the Week

This week's All-Star Student is leading a city wide park clean-up project in Sartell. Maddie O'Rourke had many ideas for her confirmation service project, but landed on helping the environment in her community. She, along with her mentor Cindy Fitzthum, and other volunteers will be cleaning up Sartell Parks on April 18th.

Sartell-St. Stephen sophomore Mitchell Dockendorf had one goal in mind going into the section and state meets. It was to swim fast. In fact he swam so fast he broke the school record in the 100 backstroke not once, but twice.

The Future Problem Solving International Competition is right around the corner, and a St. Cloud Apollo senior will be heading to Ames Iowa to take part. The t-shirt all the FPS Minnesota students will be wearing just happens to be a design by this student. Learn more about how her topic of enhancing human potential helped her to the international competition.

Melrose sophomore Mady Brinkman comes from a family of state champion gymnasts. She is now following in her sisters footsteps earning her one championship on the balance beam. This gymnast is also an active coach of youth gymnastics in Melrose.

This week's All-Star Student has had an impressive athletic year. Being a state champion in football, and wrestling, this Holdingford senior is looking forward to his baseball season, as well as moving onto collegiate football next fall.

The All-Star Student of the Week can call herself, and the rest of her dance team state champions. This Sartell-St. Stephen High School Senior also had a lot of other state and conference honors to celebrate a great year.

St. Cloud Tech Nordic Ski Team is full of great athletes including this week's All-Star Student, Cory Rouw. He is a two-time section champion, and three time state participant. Getting his start at a young age Rouw has become one of the top Nordic Skiers in the area.

WJON's All-Star Student of the Week is taking a look at the St. Cloud Tech Nordic Ski team. This week we are featuring Senior Isaac Wieber who took second place at this year's section race, but this was not the first time he stood on the section podium. He's grateful for all the success he, and his team has had over the last three years.

WJON's All-Star Student of the Week once again comes from the ProStart Culinary Program at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. Madelaine Virchow has decided to pursue a career in culinary and hospitality. She was a member of the second place state culinary team last year. As a senior she hopes to make it to nationals.

WJON's All-Star Student is kick starting her career of owning her own restaurant by participating in the culinary program at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. Madison Waseca is the captain of the management team, and was a member of last years' second place state culinary team. She says her experience here is helping set her up for the future.
