ST. CLOUD - An independently owned aquarium shop that recently opened in South St. Cloud has been picking up business and interest from area hobbyists and fish clubs.

Art Fish & Soul Aquarium Store opened March 1st at 2237 Roosevelt Road. The shop is unique in that it offers fish and imported artwork in the front area of the store and reptiles in the back.

"We have freshwater and saltwater fish, live plants and corals. But I also love reptiles, so I thought why not offer some reptiles here too: we have chameleons, leopard geckos-a variety of reptiles," Owner Lindsey Klein says.

Klein is certainly keeping busy: she's running the store and also works full-time as a real estate agent. The idea to open a shop started after she completed an advertising degree.

"I actually ended up working for a manufacturer for about five years. They made aquariums and aquarium equipment. I absolutely loved that job, going to fish stores all day," Klein says.

The shop has been picking up steam with local aquarium hobbyists and fish clubs. Klein says many customers have told her that they previously needed to travel to the Twin Cities to find unique fish and pets. Her favorite part of the shop is introducing people to owning an aquarium.

"It's just fun to see how excited people get about it and either sharing information with them or sharing the fish with them - that's the excitement I get out of it," Klein says.

Art Fish & Soul is open Monday-Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. They are also open from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
