The Gopher football team won their first Big Ten game this season 22-21 over Iowa Saturday afternoon at TCF Bank Stadium.  Minnesota came from down 21-10 in the 4th quarter to sneak by the visiting Hawkeyes.

The St. Louis Cardinals overcame a 2-0 Texas lead to beat the Rangers 6-2 in deciding Game 7 of the World Series Friday night.  After giving up 2 runs in the first inning Cris Carpenter threw 5 shutout innings to get the win. 

The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team won their WCHA opener 4-0 at #12 North Dakota Friday night.  Freshman Ryan Faragher played for the injured Mike Lee and had 44 saves to earn the shutout in net for the Huskies.  Jared

The Vikings have reportedly released receiver Bernard Berrian.  The 30-year old veteran has just 7 catches for 91 yards this season and has been inactive for 2 of the last 3 weeks.  Berrian has spent the last 3 seasons with the Vikings. 

Viking head coach Leslie Frazier met with receiver Bernard Berrian today after Berrian was inactive Sunday despite being healthy enough to play.  Frazier would not indicate why Berrian was inactive Sunday either after the game or during his press conference Monday. 

Fergus Falls 14, Sartell-St. Stephen 13
(Eric McAfee was stopped on a 2-point conversion attempt with 1:35 left to allow Fergus Falls to come away with the win.  McAfee ran for 54 yards and a touchdown and had a 10-yard touchdown reception for Sartell.  Blake

The Vikings downed the Arizona Cardinals 34-10 Sunday afternoon to earn their first win of the season at Mall of America Field.  Adrian Peterson had a huge day for the Vikings with 3 first quarter touchdown runs. 

The St. Cloud State football team beat Minnesota State-Mankato 31-13 Saturday afternoon to capture the traveling training kit.  SCSU led 17-6 at halftime and scored 14 4th quarter points to put the game out of reach. 

St. John’s football lost 41-20 at home to Bethel Saturday afternoon.  Bethel and St. John’s were tied at 20 apiece before Bethel scored 21 unanswered points in the 4th quarter.  Stephen Johnson ran for 115 yards and 1 touchdown for the Johnnies.  Ben Krebsba
