ST. CLOUD - St. Cloud area students are going door to door on Halloween collecting non-perishable food items for the local food shelf.

Their efforts are part of the international "We Act" program, which encourages students to engage in local and global action services.

You're encouraged to help students meet their goal by bagging up a food shelf donation. If you prefer to make a monetary donation instead, you can write a check to "Catholic Charities Food Shelf".

On Halloween 2013, the We-Act students in all of the district's junior and senior high schools combined to collect over 6,000 pounds of food.

This year, students in the district's schools have the goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of food, which would be able to fill an entire semi-trailer. If students exceed 12,000 pounds, they will have planned and implemented the largest food drive in the past calendar year.
