ST. CLOUD -- The annual Charity Challenge raised a record $267,000 dollars for the local food shelf in 2013.

The Norman C. Skalicky Foundation along with the Central Minnesota Community Foundation announced today (Monday) they saw a 53-percent increase from last year's total.

The total includes a $100,000 matching grant from Norman C. Skalicky Foundation. It's the highest matching donation in the Challenge's 13-year-history.

The money will be distributed to the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and St. Joseph food shelves.

The Charity Challenge began in 2001, and has raised more than $1.3-million for local charities.
