ST. WENDEL TWP/ST. CLOUD -- A 63-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after her estranged husband crashed into her car and fired several gunshots at the vehicle.

The incident happened just before 10:00 a.m. this morning (Saturday) on County Road 4 in St. Wendel Township.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says they received a 9-1-1 call reporting two vehicles traveling south east on County Road 4 from County Road 2.

The caller said one vehicle was chasing the other. The second vehicle then rammed into the pursued vehicle and gunshots were fired.

The pursuit continue into St. Cloud where the vehicles collided one more time and the driver of the pursuing vehicle fired several rounds into the first vehicle.

Deputies say the pursuing vehicle then left the scene and was later stopped by officers near the Sauk Rapids bridge. The driver was a 66-year-old man.

Deputies found a handgun in the vehicle and the man is in custody of the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
