11 File For Open Sauk Rapids Council Seat

SAUK RAPIDS – City officials say 11 people have applied for an open seat on the Sauk Rapids City Council.

The candidates are: Steve Heinen, Leslie Ann, Leslie Giffin, Jeremy Stockinger, William Bard, Timothy Meemken, David DeMars, Bradley Peterson, Andrew Kahara, Betsy Lund, and Jim Neppl.

The four current city council members — including new Mayor Dave Saunders — will conduct interviews with the 11 candidates on Tuesday.

They hope to select the new council member at their July 25th City Council meeting.

There’s an open seat because former Mayor Mark Campbell announced his resignation last month.  That opened the door for councilman Dave Saunders to be appointed to fill the remainder of his term in office.
