CLEARWATER - This week we are focusing on the community of Clearwater in our "Your Town Tuesday" series on WJON.

Clearview Elementary is a school half way between Clearwater and Clear Lake, and is part of the District 742 school district.  It's a pre-kindergarten through sixth grade school that has a growing enrollment.

Principal Sheri Rutar says space is a big issue for them.

Rutar says Clearview is continuing to plan for an expansion of their building, and the possibility of becoming a pre-K through 8th grade school.

The school's Spanish immersion program now has over 300 students - or about half of the school's total enrollment.  Rutar says the kids start learning the language quickly.

Rutar says the kids are taught 100 percent in Spanish, other than music, art, and phy ed. She says very few kids who start the program drop out of it.

Next week on our "Your Town Tuesday" series we'll be heading to the town of Richmond.
