SARTELL -- A 56-year-old woman was kidnapped by a masked man last (Wednesday) night.

The Sartell Police Department says the incident began around 9:40 p.m. when the woman went into the McDonalds in Sartell near the corner of Highway 15 and County Road 1.

When she got back into her vehicle a man wearing a ski mask was hiding in her back seat.  He told her to drive to another location where a second masked man demanded money from the victim.

At some point she was also attacked and choked unconscious.  The men drove the woman around the St. Cloud metro area and eventually pushed her from the vehicle.

She went into the Coborns Superstore on Benton Drive in Sauk Rapids just before 2:00 a.m. and called for help.  Sauk Rapids Police found the vehicle abandoned, which had been set on fire.

The victim was taken to St. Cloud Hospital and released.  Police don't know if the victim was specifically targeted, or if it was a random attack.

Police are also reminding you to lock your vehicle when you go into a business, and check your backseat before you get back in.
