KIMBALL - A wine made in Kimball has taken home the top prize at the annual Cold Climate competition.

The Millner Heritage Vineyard and Winery's 2012 Little Iza wine won the Minnesota Governor's Cup trophy yesterday (Friday) at the University of Minnesota.

The wine is made from La Crescent grapes.

The Minnesota Governor's Cup is a large silver ice bucket.  It's the fifth year the traveling trophy has been awarded.

This year's competition included nearly 300 wines from commercial wineries in 12 states and Canada.

Awards were based on blind tastings by 21 expert judges.
