Beatle Project

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Musicians from the Land of 10,000 Lakes take on 16 songs by the Fab Four in a new CD hitting store shelves Wednesday.

The “Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 2″ features covers of Beatles songs by artists including Soul Asylum, Mason Jennings, Pert Near Sandstone and the Grammy-winning Sounds of Blackness.

The album raises money to fund arts and music programs and supply instruments to young musicians across Minnesota.

One of those beneficiaries – the Edison High School Concert Band of northeast Minneapolis – performs “I Want to Hold Your Hand” on the new CD. The band received more than 50 instruments in a grant this year.

Vega Productions produced the album and will donate all net proceeds to music and art education programs for children.
