MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Family members and police say a 69-year-old Minneapolis man was killed after he let another man into his home.

Police say Thomas Sonnenberg was home Friday when a young man knocked on his door and asked to come inside because people were chasing him and wanted to kill him.

Reports say Sonnenberg let the man in and called 911, then the young man shot him in the head.

Sonnenberg's daughter, Raina Baldwin, says her father thought he was helping save the man's life.

Baldwin says that after the shooting, the suspect tried to leave the house but couldn't because Sonnenberg had locked the doors and the key was in Sonnenberg's pocket.

Police arrived and found the suspect still in the house. He was arrested.
