UPDATE: Pilot, Crew Remain in Critical Condition After Helicopter Crash
ALEXANDRIA -- Three members of North Memorial Hospital remain in critical condition after being involved in a helicopter crash Saturday morning.
The Douglas County Sheriff Troy Wolbersen says a North Memorial Air Care helicopter was enroute to pick up a patient from Douglas County Hospital at about 2:00 a.m. when it crashed near the Alexandria airport.
47-year-old Joshua Jones, 44-year-old Scott Scepaniak, and 34-year-old Miles Weske were on board the helicopter at the time of the crash. They remain in critical condition at the North Memorial Hospital.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will remain on scene for the next few days to help remove the wreckage and access the scene.
The investigation remains active.
A preliminary report will be available within the next few days with a final report expected to be completed in the next 9-12 months.
